Women's underrepresentation in technology and science constitutes a serious concern in today's society. In 2018, the European Commission's study "Women in the Digital Age" revealed that the gap between male and female participation in the digital sector has in fact grown. The number of men with ICT-related studies is now four times higher than the number of women and the gap becomes considerably larger when taking into account the low percentage of women who go on to pursue a career in ICT.
